Vickers and Barrow are names synonymous with the development of the submarine. Hundreds of submarines covering virtually every class have been built for the Royal Navy and foreign Navies. This site is dedicated to not only to those who have served on Her Majesty's Submarines but also to those employees past and present whose skills and efforts have given pride to the phrase 'Barrow built' and made the name Vickers known and respected throughout the world.

| 2022 | Vanguard (S 28) | HMS Vanguard was rededicated into the Royal Navy in a ceremony held at Devonport Naval Base. The parade was attended by the fleet commander and families of the crew. A rededication ceremony is a traditional part of any Royal Navy vessel’s life after completing a period of refit and improvement. |

The Senior Service has, for a hundred years, had submarines.
Originally thought to be Un-English, submarines helped us win two World Wars and have played a great part in Britain's nuclear deterrent for the past thirty years. Originally some of the small subs had crews of less than ten men, unlike today's nuclear behemoths with crews of almost one hundred.
Submariners are a breed apart; ask any submariner and they'll tell you they think and act differently from the regular navy. Submariners is the story of the submarine service in the words of the men involved.
