This website is brought to you in association with the Barrow-in-Furness Branch of the Submariners Association and is the premier UK internet resource for Submariners and anyone interested in Royal Navy Submarines.

Vickers and Barrow are names synonymous with the development of the submarine. Hundreds of submarines covering virtually every class have been built for the Royal Navy and foreign Navies. This site is dedicated to not only to those who have served on Her Majesty's Submarines but also to those employees past and present whose skills and efforts have given pride to the phrase 'Barrow built' and made the name Vickers known and respected throughout the world.

1943	Sportsman (P 229)	HMS Sportsman attacks a landing craft with gunfire in the Ligurian Sea off Porto Maurizio. The attack had to be broken off because the gun jammed.
1945	Sea Scout (P 253)	HMS Sea Scout sinks a Japanese tug, five barges and a coaster with gunfire in the Gulf of Siam.
1945	Supreme (P 252)	HMS Supreme attacks with gunfire what is thought to be a Japanese auxiliary patrol vessel in the Gulf of Siam.
1945	Trump (P 333)	HMS Trump sinks a Japanese coaster with gunfire north of Bali, Netherlands East Indies.
1946	Vox (P 67) / Curie (French)	Returned to the Royal Navy
1957	Tudor (P 326)	The funeral of two crew members from the submarine HMS Pandora took place. HMS Pandora was raised and beached in Kalkara Creek. In 1957 the submarine was broken up and during the breaking up the skeletons of two crew members were found. These remains were buried at sea from HMS Tudor. The burial service was read by the former Commanding Officer of HMS Pandora, Captain R L Alexander DSO, Royal Navy.

Depth charged by Italian TB Pegaso off Tripoli on 14 April 1942

HMS Tally Ho, captained by Commander L.W.A. Bennington was a T-class submarine which achieved spectacular success in the Second World War. Her name was chosen for her by Winston Churchill and it proved a very suitable one for a hunting submarine. In a single commission, lasting from 15th March 1943 to 26th February 1945, she operated in the Malacca Strait.

Here, surrounded by enemy air bases and in badly charted shallow waters, so shallow that many experts considered them unsuitable for submarine operations, she took a heavy toll of enemy warships and supply vessels. The boat, her captain and her crew are all vividly portrayed in this exciting chronicle which is the fruit of wide and detailed research.
