Vickers and Barrow are names synonymous with the development of the submarine. Hundreds of submarines covering virtually every class have been built for the Royal Navy and foreign Navies. This site is dedicated to not only to those who have served on Her Majesty's Submarines but also to those employees past and present whose skills and efforts have given pride to the phrase 'Barrow built' and made the name Vickers known and respected throughout the world.

| 1942 | Umbra (P 35) | HMS Umbra fires torpedoes at the Italian battleship Littorio but the torpedoes miss the target. Later HMS Umbra torpedoes and sinks the Italian heavy cruiser Trento. |
| 1943 | Ultor (P 53) | HMS Ultor sinks the Italian auxiliary minesweeper Tullio/No.92 |
| 1944 | Satyr (P 214) | HMS Satyr sank the German submarine U-987 in the North Sea west of Narvik. |

A special group of navy divers is created when a disabled Nazi warship is discovered in a fjord in Norway. Commander Bolton (James Caan) is the Canadian expert designated to train the new unit. Their mission is to plant a bomb on the warship as it undergoes repairs. The hard-driving Bolton encounters resentment from the British soldiers he trains, but he ultimately earns their respect as a leader. Their intense training operation is interrupted by an attack of Nazi paratroopers just before the unit leaves for Norway. Spectacular underwater photography is seen in this World War II adventure story based on an actual mission
